Job Description
Assist with maintenance and care for grounds equipment. Implements instructions of Grounds Supervisor.
Duties of the Job

Seeding or transplanting landscaping by cultivating soil and adding fertilizer or chemicals, if needed.
Planting seeds and bulbs, trees and shrubbery so that resulting growth will produce attractive appearance.
Scattering grass seed on bare spots on lawn or sods such areas.
Weeding and thinning flower beds.
Pruning trees and trimming hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.
Mowing lawns with hand or power mower.
Connects sprinkling equipment and waters lawn and flower beds.
Inspects flowers, shrubs, and trees for evidence of insects and fungi. In the fall, digs up and stores bulbs and roots that would be killed by freezing or covers beds with straw.
Adjusts and repairs such equipment as lawn mowers, sprinklers and hedge shears, using small hand tools such as screwdrivers, emery stones, wrenches and pliers.
Shovels snow from sidewalks and driveways and spreads sand, salt or ashes to prevent slipping.
Repairs outdoor chairs and benches.
Collects and bags garbage, litter, leaves and refuse.
Trap or poison moles and gophers.
May operate small tractor with attachments for plowing, cultivating, mowing and snow plowing.
In winter, may work inside and perform maintenance duties.
Wall washer and window washer.
Job Qualifications
Required:
Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions. One to two years gardening experience preferred. One to three months on the job training. Manual dexterity is necessary to handle garden tools, bulbs, seeds and plants. Foot-hand-eye coordination when operating power equipment. Spatial perception is necessary when positioning, aligning and clipping plants, shrubs, and bulbs. A preference for things and objects is required to master techniques of gardening and landscaping. Capable of performing a variety of different duties such as watering, cutting, weeding, trimming and the like. Lifts and carries shrubs and spray equipment from 20 to 50 lbs. Pushes and pulls lawn mower with force of 10 to 20 lbs. Occasional balancing and climbing when working on trees. Frequently stoops, kneels, crouches and crawls when caring for lawn, shrubs and flowers. Frequently reaches, handles, fingers, and feels when using garden hand tools and planting shrubs and flowers. Work is mainly outside, except during winter months in cold climates. May be required to work overtime and long hours in event of emergencies.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
